Gunsmith Cats

Hi everyone! Well after the great response I had with Red Sonja(still can't believe that ) and with so many new folks kindly adding me to their watch lists, I thought I should take the time and effort to do something speacial. And here it is.....Gunsmith Cats!

Gunsmith Cats was my second intro to Manga (Ben Dunn's

Ben Dunn Ninja High School the first American taste that sparked my interest in things across the Pacific). I picked up GSC when Dark Horse first started reprinting Kenichi Sonoda's books...Wow! The detail of Mr. Sonoda's art! The guns, the cloths, the friggin cars!! Amazing stuff go pick up his books if you can...if anything get them to help you draw any of the above I fell in love with the art and the story kept my interest far more than many other Manga books ever did (copy and repeat at times with many of them). But not with Gunsmith. Hey I'm only a couple hours from Chicago anyway so maybe I have a special place for those two bounty hunters from the windy city.

Anyway, Cats has a special place for me and I wanted to get them right and I did not want to even attempt them until I felt I was at a level that could do them justice (does that make sense?). I tried doing Rally and "Minnie" May in a pure Manga style but I's sucks still at that (so simple an art form I can't frigging do it ) So I tried my way and it suck. Then something just clicked...I threw out the art was starting and started this...I really think I captured the two and something with my faces advanced a bit as well as my cloths. But hands! aghru! and Cars! my first car attempt (they are very hard folks, lots of erasing on this one and you can hardly see it (hats off to you car artist out there you amaze me) and my first really building and perspective attempt. Let me if I have anything right or all wrong. I apprecate criticism!

Also for all you car nuts. I love the 1967, model Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500 that Rally drives in the book, but I KNOW that the logo is on the right side as is the steering wheel. I just wanted to nod to the first set of books that I read on GSC. See Manga is read the complete opposite way Americans read comics so when they first translated the books they just filpped the images and pulled in English over the Japanese. I always got a laugh on how Chicago drivers drove on the left side of the road...don't attempt in real life they drive crazy but like the rest of us (found out hard way) For a while I just assumed Rally drove some limited/custom edition Shelby..LOL oh I'm such an idiot
